Cyber Security of the Republic of Slovenia in the light of the increasing number of hacking incursions
Objavljeno : 12 July, 2017On 16 June, the Information Commissioner, the Government Office for the Protection of Classified Information, SI-CERT and the Institute for Corporate Security Studies, organized a public debate entitled “Cyber Security of the Republic of Slovenia in the light of the increasing number of hacking incursions” in the conference room of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia.
The purpose of the consultation was to find answers about the state and vision of development in the field of cyber security of the country.
Panelists drew attention to the generally low public awareness of the actual dangers of cyber attacks on key state systems and consequently inadequate preparedness and inadequate staffing and operational capabilities. It was emphasized that an ecosystem of information security should be built that will efficiently use available resources and link all key stakeholders.
With several different views on the need for centralization of sources of protection, placement and competences of various bodies, panelists estimated that emerging laws on information security and critical infrastructure should offer adequate normative solutions as soon as possible, which should be followed by operationalization in the action plans and implementing regulations.
According to the organizers, the event, which was very well attended, with more than 100 participants attending, helped to raise awareness of the importance of cyber security.
